Republic Day Speech-2023
Republic Day Speech-2023
Good morning, everyone. I wish you
all a very warm and happy Republic Day 2023. As I begin my speech, I would like
to convey my hearty gratitude to all the dignitaries in the dais. I feel
honoured and pride to deliver this speech on this special day of remembrance. In
the bible, book of Psalms 33:12 states that, I quote and unquote “Happy is the
nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage.” This
year India is holding an enormous and vibrant celebration on its 74th
Republic Day. We are gathered here today to celebrate the anniversary of the
adoption of our nation’s Constitution and to pay tribute to those who gave
their lives in defence of our freedom. Every year, we celebrate the national
event with great joy, happiness, and pride in order to make it memorable. The theme of Republic Day 2023 is
“Jan Bhagidari” which means “participation of the common people.”
As we celebrate this day, it is
important for us to remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. They
struggled against British colonial rule for many years, and their efforts
finally led to India’s independence in 1947. After attaining Independence from
the British Raj, the first Challenge for the Indian Government was to establish
their own constitution. They continued to fight for a constitution that would
ensure the rights and freedoms of all citizens. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal
Nehru, Sardar Patel, B. R. Ambedkar, and many others, worked tirelessly to
draft a constitution that would be fair and just for all. They faced many
challenges, but they never gave up. Finally, the Constitution of India, which
was adopted on January 26th 1950, is a document that lays down the
fundamental principles and laws of our nation. It defines the rights and duties
of citizens, and establishes the framework for our democracy. The Constitution
also guarantees equality, justice, and freedom for all. It also provides a framework
for the government’s transparent and accountable operation and ensures that
certain fundamental rights are guaranteed to all of its citizens. It is a testament to the values of
democracy, justice, liberty, and equality that have guided our nation since its
inception. On the same day, Dr Rajendra Prasad also began his term as the first
President of India and the Constituent Assembly became the Parliament of India
under provisions of the new Constitution.
Since India’s independence, the
President, Prime Minister, and other high-ranking officials have attended the
main Republic Day celebrations in the nation’s capital, New Delhi. On Republic Day,
ceremonial parades are held at the Rajpath as a tribute to India. The parade
highlights the nation’s cultural and social diversity as well as the
achievements of the government and the armed forces in a variety of disciplines
I would like to recapitulate the
importance of the Constitution in shaping our nation. As we celebrate this day,
it is also important for us to remember the importance of protecting and
preserving the Constitution. As Indian citizens, it is our responsibility to
uphold the Constitution’s protection and preservation. It is a document that
defines our rights and responsibilities and it is our duty as citizens to
uphold its principles and values. It is our duty as citizens to uphold the
principles and values laid down in the Constitution, and to work towards
building a stronger and more prosperous nation. We must work towards creating a
society that is inclusive and equal, where everyone has the opportunity to
succeed and reach their full potential. We must strive to promote peace,
harmony, solidarity and fraternity among all communities and to build a nation
that is united and strong. Let us pledge to do our part in building a better
India. Let us work towards creating a society that is free from discrimination
and inequality.
Let us also remember the
sacrifices made by our soldiers who are protecting our country at the borders,
and also the warriors who are putting their lives on the line to keep us safe
during the disasters. It
is our collective responsibility to build a better future for all and to create
a more equitable and prosperous society. On this Republic Day, let us renew our
commitment to building a strong and vibrant nation that is respected and
admired by the world. Although
we have seen a lot of economic improvements and success as a country, we still
have many hurdles in our paths, such as poverty, unemployment, pollution, and
the last two years - COVID. It is our duty as citizens to face these challenges
and come out stronger on the other side. So, one thing we all can do is to
promise each other that we will become a better version of ourselves so that we
can contribute to solving all these problems and making our nation a better
place. I conclude this speech with the biblical reference from Colossians 1:13,
states that “He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us
into the kingdom of his beloved Son.” As a follower of Christ, the Liberator,
let us be the light in the life of the people who are in darkness, hope for the
hopeless and voice for the voiceless.
